JONES MIDDLE SCHOOL CHOIR

Welcome to the Jones Middle School. Our school is the fifth middle school in the Prosper Independent School District.

There are four sections of Choir at Jones Middle School. Each choir listed below functions as an important part of the entire choir program. Choirs are divided into the following levels: Varsity Treble, JV Treble, Tenor Bass and Beginner. These levels help meet the individual needs of each student and provide the opportunity for proper vocal development. Each student is expected to remain in “good standing” within their respective ensemble.

VARSITY TREBLE CHOIR

Varsity Treble Choir is a UIL performing group made up of advanced 7th & 8th grade girls. Students in this choir must be able to match pitch consistently, sing comfortably in 2 and 3 parts, and have a good understanding of reading rhythm and melodic notation. Members must be willing to commit to regular rehearsals, and are expected to participate in scheduled concerts and school events. In addition, each student is expected to audition for the middle school Solo Festival, All-Region Choir, and participate in the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading evaluation.

TENOR BASS CHOIR

Tenor Bass Choir is a UIL performing group made up of 7th & 8th grade boys. Students in this choir must be able to match pitch consistently, sing comfortably in 2 and 3 parts, and have a good understanding of reading rhythm and melodic notation. Members must be willing to commit to regular rehearsals, and are expected to participate in concerts and school events. In addition, each student is expected to audition for the middle school Solo Festival, All-Region Choir, and participate in the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading evaluation.

JV TREBLE CHOIR

This choral ensemble is a UIL performing group consisting of 7th & 8th grade girls. Students in this choir cvmpentatly match pitch, sing comfortably in 2 and 3 parts, and display understanding of reading rhythm and melodic notation. Members of this choir commit to regular rehearsals, and participate in scheduled concerts and school events. In addition, each student will audition for the middle school Solo Festival, All-Region Choir, and participate in the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading evaluation.

BEGINNING CHOIR

Jones MS Beginning Choir is specifically for 6th grade students. It is designed as an introductory course to choral music in the interest of preparing for the advanced ensembles in the Choral program. Students will learn fundamentals of music theory, vocal production, and group performance. The Beginning Choir will perform at the Fall Concert, Winter Concert, Mock Solo Festival, and Spring Concert. Members are expected to participate in scheduled rehearsals during and after school.
